A Rekindled inspiration...

Drawing and studying the “Couture Collections” has been a go-to pleasure throughout my life from a very young age.

Early this year, having cruised the 2016 Spring Gucci Runway Collection by Alessandro Michele, my inspiration was boundless. I aspired to paint his entire collection. His expression of “geeky” beauty. This “illusion of vintage” - I saw a new revolutionary aesthetic in today's fashion.

Others were following suit.. also in extra-ordinary ways.

Dior's rose bouquets, covering entire walls in runway rooms, a perfect backdrop for his dreamy “Manet”dresses. Valentino's delicate needlepoint embroideries of butterflies and tarot images on flowing gowns. Alexander Wang's gender-fluid approach with men and women on the same catwalk.

A new liberated, confident sensuality was evident and my muses were flying in from all directions.

Dolce & Gabbana's “Alta Moda” Fall 2016, in the San Gregorio piazza of Naples. One-of-a kind, made to measure virtuoso creations...bejeweled headdresses, shoulder- length filigree earrings. A Neapolitan theme with Sophia Loren as the guest of Honor. A theatrical extravaganza.

Chanel's Resort Collection, Cuba, in the streets of Havana's Paseo de Prado – a first ( the yacht Adonis delivering 400 U.S. patrons to the dock). Pearl-studded berets and floral trim fedoras. All of Havana came out to join in the street dance. Back in Paris, Fall 2016; white lace, and leather brimmed boaters.

Oscar de la Renta, pale ice- pastel colors with flowing black ribbons and Giambattista Valli's "tulle plissé" for grand finale gowns. Saint Laurent's high glam LBD going back to the 80's.

Prada, La Croix, Lanvin, Kors.. It was all overwhelming..and so many more sketches with designers, McQueen, Burberry still seducing me on the drawing board. This is a direction I will continue into the future.

The exhibition FASHION NOW will be displaying 20 of the paintings created this year in my studio on Vancouver Island, chosen from the 2016-17 Collections. Paris, Milan, New York, London...

A fashion blog featuring new artworks will be premiered on a new website coming within the next two months.
